About the Teachers

Tod Butterfield

Tod met Jesus while attending Linfield College. He has been on a journey with God ever since. Not perfect, but blessed! A communications major, starting out in radio, Tod became a public school teacher in 1987 and retired from public education in 2022. He is a worship leader at his church, and has a heart for young people to know that they are loved by God. God’s Son Jesus has a good plan for every person!

Kathie Byers

Kathie became a born again Christian at the age of 13.  She began teaching Sunday School in 1987 at the age of 18 for the Yamhill Christian Church. She was also the high school youth group leader for a few years, along with her husband, before they moved to Sheridan in 1996. Kathie’s father-in-law was the pastor of the Sheridan First Christian Church until his retirement in 2009.  Kathie served as Sunday School teacher and youth group leader until 2016.  Kathie was a founding member of an organization called LINCS from 1996 to 2019. This organization focused on positive youth development through sports, outings, and business development. While not a traditional Christian organization, Kathie was able to build rationships and share her faith with many young people. Kathie has a passion for teaching young people about Jesus and helping them find their true identity and purpose.
